Kelp Jungle
2025
A vision at the end of 2024 revealed a solo journey — facing my darkest shadows deep in the jungle, with glimmers of color flying past me. This insight led me to the jungles of Costa Rica, where I was called to face my fears through travel, dive deeper into the ocean than ever before, and rediscover trust and love within.
The Kelp Jungle collection was born from my transformative experiences in both the rainforest and the ocean’s depths. These paintings challenged me to dive into the unknown — not only through soul-searching experiences, but also within the creative process itself. I began breaking the rigid rules of oil painting, allowing myself to soften, to listen, and to follow where intuition wanted to lead.
As always, 10% of proceeds from kelp-inspired artwork benefit SeaTrees kelp restoration projects.

The Process
In my past series, my compositions were carefully mapped out — a trace on the canvas served as a guide for where each brushstroke would go. This new process asked something different of me: to trust, have faith, and surrender.
To make marks without a plan. To paint intuitively and stay present in the moment — even placing myself back under the canopies, both above and below the surface. These paintings became a profound challenge: to let go of what I was taught and instead follow what feels true in my body and soul.
While painting, I experimented — dripping walnut oil from the top of the canvas, and at times even taping a meter stick to the end of my brush to loosen my control and brushstrokes. Throughout the process, I reminded myself to embrace the shadows and look for the glimmers — what I now recognize as love.
