Le Jardin de l'Ocean
Ocean Garden — affectionately nicknamed the Venus Series — emerged from a year of deep self-love and surrender. Inspired by time spent in France and the grandeur of gilded arches and cathedrals, this collection envisions the ocean floor as sacred, abundant, and vibrant with life. Each painting is created on large arched canvases, like stained glass windows opening into the kelp forest, a unique collection.
Born from the perspective of looking up from the ocean floor while free-diving — from the depths where expansion begins — these works invite us to see the beauty that surrounds, supports, and rises above us. The collection explores the vision of rich, protected oceans.
As always, 10% of proceeds from kelp-inspired works benefit SeaTrees kelp restoration projects.

The Process:
The Ocean Garden series has been over a year in the making, one of the most difficult and meaningful journeys of my creative life.
It started in France, my heart still full of everything I had just seen. On the plane home, I sketched the idea of arched canvases and gilded edges before I even knew what the paintings would become. These six pieces have lived in my mind's eye ever since, inspired by Monet's water lilies and my time abroad.
Building the canvases wasn't easy. I was told no more than once, until I found master craftsman Jackie Stewart, who said yes. Months to build all six out of maple, then another month to stretch them, a labor of love that took three of us working side by side.
Then came six to eight months of painting, diving deeper than ever before. I traced sketches projected onto blank canvas, then let go of any notion and followed feeling instead, layering moments from my dives on top of abstract wanderings, chasing the feeling of being on the ocean floor.
This is my largest, most immersive series yet. I chose linen for its gentle, healing frequencies, and now I'm gilding the edges in brass, which carries healing frequencies of its own.
A beautiful journey following my intuition, amidst many challenges, and I would not have it any other way.
